Exhibition opening and public lecture by Reinhold Martin,
“The Housing Question, Foreclosed”
Co-sponsored by Pukar
What is Foreclosed? is a selection of digital excerpts from Foreclosed: Rehousing the American Dream, an architecture exhibition that ran at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City from February 15-August 13, 2012. For that exhibition, five architect-led teams were invited to design an architectural and urban project in suburbs across the United States, focusing on new forms of housing. The projects and the associated research continue to stimulate debate regarding the cultural narratives that have accompanied the home foreclosure crisis and the economic crisis more generally. What is Foreclosed? also includes a presentation of “Comments on Foreclosed,” a record of public commentary surrounding the MoMA exhibition, which was collected in an effort to leverage the conversation about public housing into a conversation about the construction and mediation of public sphere itself.
